How Pixalit collects, uses and looks after personal information — written in plain English.

Last updated: 28 October 2026

1. About Pixalit

Pixalit is a UK-based business providing website design, website development and related services to businesses worldwide.

This policy explains how Pixalit collects, uses and protects personal information when you visit the Pixalit website, submit an enquiry, request a free website preview, communicate with us or become a customer. For the purposes of UK data protection law, Pixalit is the controller of the personal information described in this policy.

If you have any questions about this policy or how your information is handled, please email brandon@pixalit.co.uk.

2. Information we may collect

Depending on how you interact with Pixalit, we may collect:

  • your name;
  • your business or company name;
  • your email address;
  • your telephone number, if you choose to provide it;
  • the information you enter in our free preview form, including your existing website address (if you have one), a description of your business, what your website needs to include and any additional information you choose to share;
  • information about your business and your website requirements;
  • emails and other correspondence you exchange with Pixalit;
  • project information and materials you supply as a customer, such as text, logos, photographs and other content for your website;
  • billing and payment-related information where you become a customer, such as the details needed to issue and record invoices. Where a payment is processed by a third-party payment provider, Pixalit does not receive or store your full payment-card details;
  • limited technical information generated when you use the website, as described in section 3.

3. How information is collected

  • Directly from you — when you complete the free preview form on our website.
  • Through communications — when you email Pixalit or otherwise contact us.
  • During a project — when you supply information or materials while we work on your website.
  • Through normal operation of the website — when you visit the site, the services that host and deliver it process technical information such as your IP address and browser details so that pages can be delivered securely. The website also uses privacy-friendly visitor statistics provided by our website hosting provider, which count visits and page views (including the pages viewed, the referring website or campaign link, approximate country and device type) without using cookies, storing anything in your browser or recognising you on a later visit.
  • Cookies and similar technologies — the website uses only a small number of essential technologies. These are explained in our Cookie Policy.

4. How we use personal information

We may use personal information to:

  • respond to your enquiries;
  • prepare a free website preview you have requested;
  • understand your business and your website requirements;
  • communicate with you about a preview or project;
  • provide website design, development and related services;
  • manage our relationship with you as a customer;
  • provide support;
  • administer invoices and payments where applicable;
  • keep the website secure and prevent misuse, such as spam form submissions;
  • where permitted by applicable law, tell you about Pixalit services that may be relevant to you (see sections 4.2 to 4.4);
  • comply with our legal obligations; and
  • improve our services and website, for example by understanding overall visitor numbers.

4.1 Service and project communications

We will send you messages that are needed to deal with your enquiry, free preview, project, payment, contract, support request or customer relationship. These are service communications, not marketing.

4.2 Marketing communications

Where permitted by applicable law, Pixalit may use your contact details to tell you about Pixalit services, updates, offers or related services that may reasonably be relevant to you. This includes existing customers and people who have enquired about or discussed a project with us.

For existing customers, this may include services that complement or relate to services you have previously bought or discussed with us, such as:

  • website management and ongoing website services;
  • SEO and search visibility services;
  • AI search visibility and optimisation services;
  • paid search and digital advertising;
  • website improvements or additional development; and
  • other related digital services offered by Pixalit.

This list is not exhaustive and may change as Pixalit's services develop.

Becoming a customer or requesting a free preview does not, on its own, mean you have agreed to receive all future marketing from Pixalit.

4.3 The rules we follow for marketing

Data protection law and the rules on electronic marketing are separate. Data protection law requires us to have a lawful basis for using your information (see section 5). Separate rules — such as the UK's Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations and equivalent laws in other countries — govern when marketing may be sent by email, text message or other electronic means.

Pixalit will only send direct marketing where it is permitted by applicable law. In particular:

  • where consent is legally required, we will obtain it before sending you marketing; and
  • where the applicable law allows marketing to existing customers or business contacts without separate consent, we will rely on that only where the relevant requirements are met.

Because Pixalit provides services to businesses worldwide, the rules that apply depend on where you are. Any direct marketing is carried out subject to the marketing and privacy laws that apply to you, and we do not assume that UK rules authorise marketing to recipients in every country.

4.4 Opting out of marketing

You can opt out of Pixalit marketing communications at any time by replying to one of our messages or by emailing brandon@pixalit.co.uk. Where required, marketing emails and similar electronic marketing messages will include an unsubscribe or opt-out option.

Opting out of marketing will not stop us sending necessary non-marketing messages about an active enquiry, project, payment, contractual matter, support request or customer relationship, where we otherwise have a lawful reason to send them.

5. Our lawful bases for using your information

UK data protection law requires us to have a valid reason, known as a lawful basis, for using personal information. Depending on the circumstances, we rely on the following:

  • Steps before a contract — when you ask us for a free preview or information about our services, we use your details to take the steps you have requested before you decide whether to enter into a contract with us.
  • Performance of a contract — when you become a customer, we use your information to deliver the services we have agreed to provide.
  • Legitimate interests — we use some information to run and improve our business, keep the website secure, respond to general correspondence and, where permitted, tell you about relevant Pixalit services, where this is not outweighed by your rights and interests.
  • Legal obligation — we keep certain records, such as accounting records, where the law requires us to.
  • Consent — where consent is legally required for a particular use, we will ask for it, and you can withdraw it at any time.

Having a lawful basis under data protection law does not, on its own, allow us to send electronic marketing. The separate marketing rules described in section 4.3 also apply.

6. Free website previews

When you request a free website preview, we use the information you provide to understand your business, to communicate with you about your request and to create the preview you have asked for.

This section deals only with your personal information. Ownership of the preview design itself is covered separately in our Terms & Conditions.

7. Sharing personal information

Pixalit does not sell personal information.

Pixalit relies on trusted third-party service providers, rather than its own infrastructure, to run the website and provide its services. We share information with these providers only where reasonably necessary for those purposes. Currently, they include:

  • Website hosting and infrastructure providers — which host the website and deliver it to visitors. This includes Cloudflare, which delivers the website securely;
  • Enquiry storage and processing providers — which securely store and process the enquiries submitted through the free preview form;
  • Transactional email delivery providers — which send the automated emails linked to the preview form, such as Pixalit's notification of a new enquiry and the confirmation email sent to the person who submitted it;
  • Website analytics and security providers — which provide the website's cookie-free visitor statistics and help protect the website against bots and misuse. Cloudflare provides this security protection;
  • Business email and communications providers — Google Workspace, which Pixalit uses for its email;
  • Font provider — Google Fonts, which supplies the typefaces used on the website. Your browser connects to Google's servers to download them, which means Google receives technical information such as your IP address.

If you would like more information about the providers that process your personal information, please email brandon@pixalit.co.uk.

Where relevant to a particular project, we may also use other providers, such as payment, professional or communication service providers. We aim to share only the information each provider reasonably needs for its role.

We may also disclose information where required by law, regulation or legal process, or where reasonably necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal rights.

8. International customers and data transfers

Pixalit provides services to businesses worldwide, and some of the service providers and infrastructure we use may process information outside the United Kingdom.

Where personal information is transferred outside the United Kingdom, Pixalit will take the steps required under applicable UK data protection law to ensure it remains appropriately protected.

9. How long we keep information

We keep personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose it was collected for. This includes providing our services, keeping appropriate business and project records, and meeting legal, accounting or regulatory obligations. When information is no longer needed, we delete it or make it anonymous.

10. Keeping information secure

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. Information sent through the website is encrypted in transit. No online system can be guaranteed to be completely secure, but we work to keep the risks low.

11. Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you may have the right to:

  • access the personal information we hold about you;
  • ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • ask us to delete your information;
  • ask us to restrict how we use your information;
  • object to how we use your information;
  • receive your information in a portable format (data portability); and
  • withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on consent.

These rights depend on the circumstances and are not always absolute. To make a request, please email brandon@pixalit.co.uk. We may need to confirm your identity before acting on a request.

12. Complaints

If you have a concern about how your information has been handled, please contact us first at brandon@pixalit.co.uk and we will do our best to resolve it.

If you are in the UK, you also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk.

13. International visitors

Pixalit serves customers internationally. This policy is written primarily around Pixalit's obligations as a UK-based business. If you are located elsewhere, you may have additional privacy rights under the law of your country, and nothing in this policy limits any rights that the law gives you and that cannot be excluded.

14. Links to other websites

The Pixalit website may contain links to other websites. Pixalit is not responsible for the privacy practices of external websites, so we recommend reading their privacy policies.

15. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy where necessary, for example if our services or the technologies we use change. The current version will always be published on this page, with the date it was last updated shown at the top.

16. Contact

For any privacy-related enquiry, please email brandon@pixalit.co.uk.
